Peter T Harrison
singing teacher & author

I specialise in what is generally referred to as 'vocal technique'. The way I work, however, is process- rather than goal-orientated, exploratory and releasing rather than prescriptive. It aims to regenerate and strengthen voices by natural and logical means. It is tailored according to individuals' strengths and weaknesses, and enables singers by degrees to sing without undue deliberation or effort, with increasing flexibility, directness and refinement, with the aim eventually of realising the full extent of their natural vocal and communicative capacities. It avoids stereotyping by recognising and cultivating the special vocal quality of each individual. It is suitable for beginners and well- established singers alike.
To be successful the process demands a high degree of commitment and focus. Whilst it is often hard work and sometimes frustrating it can also be fun and deeply satisfying.

I also coach singers on music and text (mainly from the vocal angle) providing that they are sufficiently well prepared.

Please note that I don't work on styles of singing that require a particular vocal bias nor with physically damaged voices. Specialists in different styles of singing and in voice rehabilitation can be found through the British Voice Association.
